The word ‘’sar’’ means ‘’peak or top’’ in Pashto. Lulusar is the name of the mountains that contains a lake famously known as Lulusar Lake.

Lulusar Lake (also called Lulusir) is a lake located at 3,410 meters (11,190 ft) and is the primary water source of the Kunhar River. It flows southwest along the entire length of the Kaghan Valley.
It is located approximately 50 kilometers (31 mi) from Naram Valley and 2135 meters above sea level.
How to reach Lulusar Lake?
Naran-Babusar road begins at Naran Village and extends 48 kilometers (30 mi) northeast to Basel in Kaghan Valley, from where Lulusar Lake can be accessible by any vehicle.
jeeps are available at Kaghan bazar for rentals. It roughly takes 3 hours to reach the lake. The construction of a new road is underway which will connect the Naran and Basel to Chillas from Karakoram Highway.
There are no hotels near the lake, just a few cafes from where you can buy snacks or traditional food. Therefore, you can stay at Naran and visit Lulusar Lake in the daytime.
Lulusar Lake Weather
The lake is quite famous for its pleasant weather in summer. Naran and Kaghan can be a little warm in summer. However, It rains quite a lot throughout the year which keeps the weather pleasant.
The average annual temperature is 10.1 °C and the average annual rainfall is 803 mm.
Snowfall blocks the roads to Naran and from Naran to Babusar in winter. The snow-free season is from July to October.
Best Time to Visit Lulusar
The best time to visit Lulusar Lake is June to September when the weather of Lulusar is dry and warm. Lush green mountains offer stunning views. If you are adventurous you can trek as there are many short trails and walks around the area.
DON’T TRAVEL IN THE RAINY SEASON! In rainy season, precautions must be taken to avoid any accident because of the slipperiness and land sliding on the road.
